Sun City West is a 7,100 acre senior adult community. The broad range of community facilities include four recreational centers, two indoor and three outdoor swimming pools, tennis courts, plus a library. In Sun City West an annual fee of $296.00 per person allows every resident full use of all swimming pools and recreation facilities except bowling and golf.

Sun City West residents enjoy billiards, tennis handball, racquetball, shuffleboard, boccie, four fitness gyms, a state-of-the-art 30 lane bowling center, and golf. In addition, there are video games and a 1,200 seat social hall where round, square and ballroom dancing take place every week, along with bingo and other weekly activities. There are arts & crafts rooms for ceramics, stained glass, silver craft, photography, sewing, woodworking, painting, and weaving as well as a 300-seat theater, a library, and a picnic area and playground for children. The annual recreation fee covers the use of all these facilities except golf and bowling, and no matter where you live in the community, you are permitted to use all of the facilities.

In addition to the recreation centers, residents may play seven of the nine golf courses. Four of the six (Pebblebrook, Grandview, Deer Valley and Trail Ridge) are regulation length courses, while Stardust, Echo Mesa, and Desert Trails are executive length courses. For an annual fee of $2600.00, residents can play unlinited golf.  There is also a Kachina card available for $995.00, in which one can pay a surcharge of $11.00 (winter) or $5.50 (summer) and have unlinited play on all sever courses. Daily golf is available on these golf courses for $7.00 for 9 holes and $14.00 for 18 holes in the Summer and $14.00 for 9 holes and $28.00 for 18 holes in the winter. Hillcrest Golf Course is open to all residents and the public. Briarwood Golf Course and Country Club, an elegant expression of taste and quality, is Sun City West's only country club featuring golf, swimming and tennis. With its warmth and charm, the club offers members and their guests the opportunity to enjoy country club living at its best. Fees vary according to the time of the year and are subject to change.

The Maricop County Events Center seats 7,000 plus people. The center hosts numerous professional shows and plays, having featured such stars as Wayne Newton, Victor Borge, Barbara Mandrell, Waylon Jennings, Roger Whittaker, Dolly Parton and many, many others.

The Sun Cities have their own Art Museum, which sits conveniently between the two Sun Cities. Sun City West is located two miles west of the original Sun City. Sun City West is an unincorporated city with its current population of nearly 30,000.

The Del Webb Memorial Hospital, a 297 bed facility, is located in Sun City West. It features some of the latest state-of-the-art equipment. There are also many medical clinics, private practices, and nursing and rehabilitation centers located within Sun City West. The Mayo Clinic of Arizona is approximately 45 miles east of Sun City West, and the Mayo Arrowhead Primary Care Center in Glendale is approximately 10 miles northeast of Sun City West.

The community has one of the lowest crime rates in the country. The Sun City West Sheriff's Posse has over 200 volunteers who patrol 24 hours a day and assist the Maricopa County Sheriff's Department.
